doTERRA & Babies

My daughter, Iris, turned 1 this month. This past year has been a breeze and I don’t owe it all to her being a great baby. I placed my first doTerra order while Iris was still only a month old and I credit much of her health to the use of essential oils. Knock on wood she’s scarcely experienced more than an 10hr fever (which we allowed to break on it’s own without medication), and she is constantly around germs. Needless to say, I was pleased to see this photo in doTerra’s magazine this fall:

“Make Over My Diaper Bag” gives a whole lot of insight into my baby routine for the past year. I make our wipes, diaper cream, and use their recommended “essential oils for baby” consistently. So, here is a guide to how I utilize doTerra for baby:

Homemade Wipes:

Iris is cloth diapered and this is the mixture I have used since birth for diaper wipes. I cut cloth diapers into strips to use as the actual wipes.

1 Tbsp Almond Oil

1 Tbsp Dr. Bronner’s Baby Mild Soap

1 – 2 Cups Water

2 – 4 drops doTERRA Melaleuca essential oil

4-8 drops doTERRA Lavender essential oil

Diaper Cream:

Generally this is a breastmilk fix but the second best remedy is:

1 Tsp Unrefined Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

1 drop doTERRA Lavender essential oil

doTERRA’s Essential Oils for Baby:

Lavender and Melaleuca are amazing.

DigestZen is the champion though. Whenever Iris is gassy or I anticipate trouble with her digesting solids I put a drop on her belly and she has no issues.

Breathe is the go-to for any congestion. At the first sign of cold, snot, or raspiness I put a drop of Breathe on her chest and she is cured. She hasn’t even had a snotty nose.

I have yet to try the Basil or Roman Chamomile, but I do have one addition:

Clove: The Teething Cure

Clove oil was recommended on the Facebook page, Essential Oils for Family Wellness, as the best teething remedy ever. I am now a firm believer.

1 Tbsp Unrefined Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

2 drops doTERRA Clove essential oil

Mix the two together and apply directly into baby gums.

**I only recommend the use of doTERRA essential oils. They are Certified Pure Therapuetic Grade and the best I have ever used.
